WELCOME TO OUR PAGE!
We’re so excited that you found us. We’ve recreated weighted blankets to be sustainable, durable, breathable, and to feel like a giant HUG. We’re a pretty new company and we’re excited to have you follow our journey as we grow, learn, and build an even greater team.
Our blankets are each handmade in Los Angeles, making every single blanket unique. We only use deadstock fabrics and once we sell out of certain colors, that’s it. The good news is that we’re constantly finding new colors to offer on our site so please make sure that you sign up for our mailing list to keep up to date with launches and special offers.
Thank you so much for your support.

Which Size Hug Is Right For Me?
A good rule of thumb when selecting your ideal blanket is to choose one that is roughly 10-15% of your body weight.
For hugs on the go, jump on our Travel blanket, the smallest of the bunch at 2'8" x 3'8" and weighing in between 7-10 pounds. Aptly named, this is the blanket that goes wherever you do.
At roughly 3.5' x 4.5' and ranging from 12-15 pounds, the Petite is great for adults to use in bed, on the couch, or as a throw blanket, and for kids to use on a twin bed or to hang out on the floor. This is the blanket that makes its way around the house, easily toted from room to room.
Consistently the #1 bestseller, our Standard clocks in 4' x 6' like the Deluxe but weighs a bit less, ranging between 18-23 pounds. Great for a family of four cuddling on the couch, or a couple cocooning for movie night, this is a blanket best left on the bed or the couch — not ideal for transport.
The heaviest hitter on the roster, our Deluxe shares the 4' x 6' dimensions with our Standard-sized blanket, but weighs in at 26+ pounds, making it ideal for larger adults or those looking for a little extra weight for soothing.
CREATED WITH LOVE
Sheltered Co. is the innovation of Pamela Hunter, a mother of 3.
When her daughter was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder, Pamela was inspired to find a mechanism to promote both sleep and calm while helping to promote body regulation. A weighted blanket was the ideal solution.
No beads, please. The weight of our blankets comes purely from the weight of the fabric that we hand-crochet into each blanket! The child size uses around 40 yards of jersey knit fabric and the adult size uses around 70 yards of fabric.
Our blankets are hand-crocheted from deadstock, upcycled, & recycled fabric. Using deadstock reduces waste and is an eco-friendly way to recycle unused fabric that was leftover by other companies. Everything from start to finish is sourced and made in L.A.
Each blanket is handmade with love and care.
How it Works
Weighted blankets provide soothing pressure to the body which stimulates receptors in the skin to calm and regulate the nervous system. This triggers a release of serotonin and dopamine which aid in the regulation of emotional responses and reduces the stress hormone, cortisol.
Designed to provide deep pressure when draped over the body, it gives comfort and security. Perfect for calming the "fight or flight" response of the body.
Our blankets are soft and sturdy, breathable yet thick--something to envelop and shelter without overwhelming the senses. Hand-woven and using dead stock fabrics, each blanket is constructed with love and meant to be treasured.
We’re dedicated to shattering the stigma that weighted blankets are sterile, clinical and only for those in hardship. Weighted blankets are amazing and for everyone: who couldn’t use a good hug after a long day? Likewise, our blankets are not only natural and handcrafted, but also beautiful.
We never use plastic or polyester beads or pellets to add weight. Instead our woven blankets are constructed from a luxurious and thick jersey, breathable and natural, using only recycled or dead stock fabrics.
Weighted blankets are not meant to cure or treat medical conditions and should not be a substitute for treatment or medication (contact your primary care doctor or consult with an occupational therapist for further evaluation). Weighted blankets are never recommended for infants/children under the age of 2.
